Kevin Moncada
Kevin Moncada is a self-taught Peruvian percussionist, born on July 26, 1995 in the city of Callao. At the age of 5 he recognized his passion for music. Kevin was part of the Afro-Peruvian chalaco group "Expression Negra" giving him his first percussive/musical experiences.
His parents'í support was part of his apprenticeship, when at age 7 he was given his first set of bongos. Thanks to this, he managed to learn the basic sounds and strokes. He studied with Peruvian and foreign teachers, as well as extension courses at the national higher school of folklore "Jos√© Mar√≠a Arguedas" obtaining various knowledge and musical concepts.
At the age of 15 he joined the orchestra "The Elegance of Callao." This experience became his musical starting point, allowing him to perform with various salseras such as: The Bronx Boys, Salsara, Los Barraza, Hey Hey Camaguey and the Zaperoko Orchestra. The latter being with whom he had the opportunity to show his talent in countries such as: Chile, the United States, Canada, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Australia. He has shared the stage with international artists such as: Ray Sepulveda, Cano Estremera, Mimi Ibarra, Luisito Carrión, Domingo Quiñones, Viti Ruiz, and Adolescentes Orchestra among others.
Kevin has recorded with various national artists and for the last 3 years he has been part of the orchestra of Callao, Zaperoko "La Resistencia Salsera del Callao".
