Carlos Adames began learning at the age of five years old at the Escuela Municipal de Bellas Artes in Veracruz, Mexico. Later he studied percussion at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes of Mexico in Mexico City. He studied Afro Cuban percussion at The Escuela Nacional de Musica en La Habana Cuba and with world known percussionists Miguel “Angá” Diaz (former conguero for Irakere) & with Jesús Alfonso Miró from Los Muñequitos de Matanzas. Carlos also studied popular Brazilian percussion in Rio de Janeiro and West African percussion with Lamim Thiam & Mamady Keïta among others.

He is currently a percussion professor at Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI.

Carlos has performed with these world class musicians: Gal Costa, Paco de Lucia, Aretha Franklin, Eugenia Leon, Armando Manzanero, Willie Colon, Juan Gabriel, Danilo Perez, The American Idols, Joao Enrique, The Lovemonkeys, The Carlos Adames Group and many more.

As an educator, Carlos has taught and given Master Classes at Universidad Veracruzana, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, San Antonio College, Palo Alto College, Northwest Vista College, Sorbonne University and more.
